Robbin' Food
School group project - social design
"How to get a students in Oslo who throws a lot of food to become more
aware of the environment and at the same time be able to save money?"
The purpose for this project was to come up with a concept where we as designers would contribute to a positive social change about food waste and how we could reduce the amount waste of food in our society. For this we came up the idea for a food truck which sells products made from vegetables, fruits and berries. Each inhabitant in Norway throws 42.6 kg of food each year. This means that each of us throws food at a value of NOK 2,700 (325,70 USD) in the garbage each year. In total, the food waste in the consumer sector has a value of approx. NOK 14 billion a year. 22,4 % of this food consist of vegetables and fruit. Today we live in a society where people like this kind of food in the form of a smoothie, juice etc, and this is  where our food truck idea came alive, and we named this concept Robbin' Food.
