Species Oxydoras niger
Illustraciencia is a project born in 2009 in Barcelona (Spain) with the aim of disseminating and rewarding scientific and natural illustration. Illustraciencia offers intensive professional courses in science museums where attendees learn to document and use various illustration techniques. The preparation of these courses and the subsequent online follow-up allow the students to receive more training and professional advice.
In this project my professional objective was to investigate the species Oxydoras niger (belonging to the cat-fish species of South America) to later illustrate an image of it and its habitat in a scientific point of view.
For Oxydoras niger color I used acrylic colors. Image size: 30 centimeters (11,811 in).
Finally, they have launched a magazine in digital format with all the work done.

During the creation process of the niger Oxydoras I made a scratchboard image to investigate more about the details of the head.
