In the summer of 2012, I interned for the Savannah Ocean Exchange. We received creative direction from National Geographic, and developed a number of short films on the topic of overfishing.
This video was placed at the start of each film for the presentations.
Role: Sound Designer
Towards the end of my National Geographic internship with the Savannah Ocean Exchange, Our superivsor sent this video to the entire student team, asking the editors to slide this in at the front end of each project. Mehmet hadn't asked for sound (as this was a last minute addition), but since I was just finishing up the last video, I decided to give this one a go.
I figured that some sort of finely ground spice sliding across a smooth piece of wood would sound the best, so I initially grabbed ground red pepper. After one test run, I was sneezing like crazy, so I switched to normal table salt, and that was the ticket. I recorded a few passes, then cut the files in as needed.
