This postcard, "Plugged In", is based on the problem of being addicted to technology, social media, and the digital world. It shows a set of lips with an iPhone phone charger replacing one of the front teeth. The coloured, rainbow background represents the "hallucination",  or the belief that social media is the real world - that the number of likes, comments and shares you get on your Instagram and Facebook posts measures your self-worth, your popularity and your success in life.

I used Faber Castell Polychromo colouring pencils, as well as Derwent graphite and sketching pencils ranging from 2B to 8B, on A5 Canson card.
"Humpty Trumpty" portrays Donald Trump as Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall in front of the White House. It was made to go under the heading "Political" for a college project a few months ago. This postcard is simply made to make people laugh and is purely for comedic effect. It does not necessarily reflect my political beliefs or opinions, and is not meant to offend anyone.

I used Uniball fine-liners and watercolour paints on A5 Canson card.
Saudade (Portuguese): “The feeling of longing for an absent something or someone that you love but might never return.”

This postcard, "Leave your Lover", was inspired by the heading, "Narrative" and the Portuguese word, "Saudade" (meaning above), which does not have a direct English translation. The postcard illustrates a story of two lovers that sadly ends, and was made for a college project a few months ago.  I want viewers to decide themselves how the story plays out - was the women cheated on? was the man cheated on? Was the relationship already over, but one of them is having regrets? Did a relationship even ever exist? There are endless possibilities.

I used Winsor and Newton Brush markers, fine-liners, and a white gel pen on A5 white Canson card
"I want to take care of myself mentally. I want to know that taking a day off because I cannot breathe is not the end of the world. My health, mentally and physically, comes before my participation grade. I want to grow like a flower, so I'm going to treat myself like one. I hope you will, as well." - Meg Besaw, October 31st, 2016, theodysseyonline.com

Finally, this postcard, "Bloom", is inspired by the concept of self-love, and the notion that it's okay to be selfish every once in a while. The only way we will grow and flourish as people is if we listen to our bodies and take care of ourselves, as well as others.

I used fine-liners and watercolour paints on A5 Canson card.
