DronHe COlony - eVolo 2019 proposal

Dron3HeCO2lony is a speculative proposal designed by architecture/visualization studio Omosphe, that changes the generic approach of the Moon as an inert rock, to a satellite with potential for the growth of human life. 

With the objective of imagining how would the human race’s colonization of outer space, investigators in the astronomy field have discussed the possibility of establishing ourselves in the Moon thanks to the primordial chemical elements for carbon-based lifeforms on the lunar surface (Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Carbon, and high amount of Helium-3, an important electric generator).
Nonetheless, there are cons to it due to direct exposure to radiation the satellite has because of its lack of a magnetosphere, region where a planet’s magnetic field forms a protective shield against the high-energy-charged particles coming from the Sun.

This is why the challenge for habitability is achieving to generate energy and ensure temperature equilibrium.
This project proposes the creation of a magnetic field that conserves heat and stable temperatures for the generation of similar ecosystems to the terrestrial surface with a flexible architecture that allows evolution through step-by-step evolution.




In phase 1. Drone landing: The objective is to build the first essential lunar structures to obtain and store lunar regolith materials that contribute to energy production. Mainly Helium-3 and water, in the form of ice.
In phase 2. Energy Production: Using the stored elements as fuel. The synthesis lies in generating energy and circulating electricity around the surface —with a few cables that surround it (3,476 km approx.) being effective— producing an energy loop and returning the magnetic field to the external material layers of the lunar atmosphere: The Magnetosphere.
In phase 3. Edification: All structures will be 3D printed. The new structures will have informal growth due to the way of element extraction. The immediate use and the speculation of the existence of different materials.
In phase 4. Flexibility: The structures will have the condition of being flexible and over time, they will have a different use, separating the program more, for specific use in a range of objectives. 

The functionality of the spaces that house the diverse essential and complementary activities of the human being, located in the vertical complex, consists of two elements: a tower as a habitational and work complex, and the construction of embedded evolutive spaces, adjacent to the central tower.
These spaces contain equipment like medical clinics, gardening, educational, commerce, and food centers, among others.
