Museum Display: Ernie Pyle and Roy W. Howard
As part of my role at The Media School I worked with the campus Art Curator and Media School Media Manager & Archivist to create a display of several memorabilia items from the famous war correspondent and IU alum, Ernie Pyle, as well as items from journalist and newspaper innovator, Roy W. Howard. The project involved space scoping, working with all parties to find the most interesting pieces, vendors to procure frames, and other parties as needed for the printing and hanging.

The project took several months due to the process of relocating, digitizing, and restoring a number of the pieces, but it is now displayed in The Media School, where donors, family members, visiting faculty, and students can admire them daily.
Some of the pieces chosen were the front page announcing his death and his Indiana University diploma.
Other items included his typewriter, jacket, hat, pipe, and a G.I. Joe doll.
Both displays are in the same space to tell the story of two alums.
We digitized the images and selected several that tell his life story: meeting world leaders, the cover of TIME magazine, and a letter from Ernie Pyle.
There are also pictures of his family, the Scripps-Howard founders, and his honorary IU degree.
