70s vintage throwback
The  70s were a great time in history with so many hurdles, achievements and breakthroughs, e.g the introduction of pocket calculators, VCRs, the pullout of US troops from Vietnam and the very first case of EBOLA virus reported in Africa. It was also an iconic time in fashion, hair and music with the likes of Cher, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Mick Jagger and David Bowie cementing themselves in the sands of time. Let us take a look at this period.
Music
70s was characterized by a lot of dance/disco music, punk rock/progressive rock, funk and soul music. Musical icons of this decade included Elvis Presley, Diana Ross, James Brown, Elton John, Cher, ABBA, Marvin Gaye, David Bowie and Mick Jagger among others.
Fashion
in the 70s Diane Von Furstenberg was the first designer to invent the wrap dress which became a signature dress for the 70s, we also had the tie & dye trend credited to this decade, hooped earings and platform shoes were a trademark. Saturday Night Fever, the movie was one of the greatest in the decade and inspired the dance/disco movement where carsalesman suits and flared bottom pants became the ‘it’ look. It was also known that in this time there were a lot of glittering leotards and shiny piece suits were a great look.
Hair
The Afro was still a popular hairdo for most African Americans but we also saw men like James Brown and Barry White introducing relaxed hairdos and spinning the wheel in most barbershops to re-invent the male style, we also saw the Jheri curls popularized by the Jackson 5, the mullet, skinheads, dreadlocks thanks to reggae music and Bob Marley and Mohicans/punk look.
