This project is an illustrated children’s book of Aesop’s fables. I wanted to design a book that children can grow up with, something that won’t look “baby-ish” as they get older. I wanted to create illustrations that make the book feel like something special, something timeless—much like the classic fables themselves. I used ink-on-paper illustrations to achieve this effect.

As a concept spread, I chose to illustrate The Fox and the Grapes, specifically the end of the story where the fox walks away from the grapes in disdain. The illustration is designed to support the text while leaving ample clear space around the text to improve readability.

The book as a whole would most likely be hard-cover and would include at least twenty different fables.
