E.volution 6 - Design Thinking Model

This model, developed by Katja Tschimmel for NA’MENTE and ESAD Matosinhos and used in design methodology classes, training workshops and coaching sessions, is called E.volution 6 elevated 2 for the following reasons:
Evolution because the creative process is an evolutionary and iterative process in which a lot of individuals and situations are interacting. The graphic solution indicates that each E-phase of the model is connected with the other phases in iterative loops.
E.6, because in Portuguese and in English, the division into 6 process spaces, which we consider the most appropriate ones, start with an ‘E’: Emergencia (Emergence), Empatia (Empathy), Experimentação (Experimentation), Elaboração (Elaboration), Exposição (Exposition) and Extensão (Extension).
Since there are moments of Exploration (divergence) and Entering (convergence) in every phase of the model, we call the model E.6 elevated 2.
We use the model in several contexts: in training courses, in conferences, in coaching sessions, in product development, in service innovation, in education, and soon in the first postgraduation course in Design Thinking in Portugal. In each context the central visual part of the model is the same, but the techniques on the right side change, depending on the concrete purpose we want to use the model.

The graphic solution of this version of the model was developed by the Design Atelier Nunes e Pã.
