Drop Cap for Aesop's Fables
36 days of type 2019

These drop caps were made during the 36 Days of Type this year. It is a project that invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to express their particular view on letters and numbers of our alphabet. 36 days of restless creativity, in which participants are challenged to design a letter or number for each day, resulting in an overall view about the ability to represent the same sign from different perspectives. A project that aims to create a space for creation around typography and its endless graphic possibilities.
Last year was the third time I participated in the challenge. I drew much strength from it, so I decided I will do it every year when I can. Last year my theme was the Aesopica. This is a collection of fables credited to Aesop, a slave and storyteller believed to have lived in ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BC. Of diverse origins, the stories associated with his name have descended to modern times through a number of sources and continue to be reinterpreted in different verbal registers and in popular as well as artistic media.
