Design Narrative,

The typeface Univers was created in 1958, which is also the same year that NASA was established. My inspiration behind the illustrations are the vintage NASA patches that were created throughout the years. They embodied the simplistic, heavy feel I wanted to create in this book. Since the book is based in space, I also wanted to leave a lot of "white space" in space so the body copies and text blocks actually feel like they're floating in space. I kept all of the colors toned down to create a vintage feel but without the texture aspect. My color pallet was also inspired by NASA's work throughout the years, emphasizing a strong presence of red, blue, and yellow.
