ColorImpossible

The idea for my art series „ColorImpossible“ was born when I once again rummaged through my two to three decade old film slide collection to discover possible "treasures". Beginning with the rocket engines I photographed at NASA's Johnson Space Center in the early 1990s, through Houston Skyline a year later, or shots taken during my stay in San Francisco - and at a time when I was particularly interested in Pop Art - I played with the grainy black-and-white film footage. I quickly discovered the appeal of the combination of "coarse film grain" - color alienation.
ColorImpossible: "Alcatraz"
ColorImpossible: "Wider. Smoother."
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."
Edgar Degas

By adding colors I therefore try to exaggerate my subjects and their messages, sometimes reducing them to absurdity, sometimes highlighting their presence. By showing these subjects "overdressed" the such post processed photographies sometimes seem to unveil their real significance. More on www.colorimpossible.com or Saatchi Art.
