A Fruits' Tragedy. Act One.

A FRUITS' TRAGEDY
Act One.
the Edge of Endurance

Apple and Orange were a happily married couple. Apple was “green”, youthful and caring, passionate and irascible. Orange was seductive, “juicy” and curvaceous, stimulating and simply irresistible. They lived in a small town, where Apple’d work to build the house and Orange’d make it home.

As time went by, they were living the life everyone was dreaming of. The ultimate ending everyone wished their stories would turn out the same.

If only things remained the same, and no one would ever have a change of heart…

Apple found out about Orange’s affair with another man, Banana. He felt hurt and betrayed. The pain was so intense that it ached in places inside of him he didn’t even know of. However, Apple loved Orange so much that he went to bed every night hoping all was a misunderstanding, and trying to convince himself that it was just a nightmare that would dissolve into thin air when one woke up. Hence, he said nothing to Orange, beside being the loving husband he had always been.

The day before their ten-year anniversary, Apple came home early, with a surprise gift in hands, glowing smiles on his face, and happiness radiating from within. And there it was, lying in bed, the sight he dreaded the most.

His wife and her lover were committing adultery on the bed where Apple’s most private intimacy and affection transpired. In that brief moment, his blissful and perfect world he had worked hard for collapsed.

Angry and devastated, Apple grabbed the knife, dashed to Banana and killed him in a blink of an eye.

Without hesitation and full of rage, Apple turned to Orange, who was so petrified she hardly breathed, pierced into her eyes, and said to her, ‘liar’. In that fleeting encounter when his eyes met hers, Apple tried to explain what could have gone wrong, and how this could ever have happened. But in return, there was only silence and an awful disgust from whom he had bet all his stakes on.

There was certain satisfaction when Apple “peeled” his wife open. The uncontrollable fury he invited in had turned him sour and ugly.  So ugly that he was persuaded that the killing was right.

“What now?”, Apple stared into the darkness far away.

‘Kill them, kill ‘em all’, a voice was echoing in his ears.
