Illustration designed and inspired by the book "Americanah" from the Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozy Adichie. 'Americanah' is a Nigerian expression used for those who go and live in America and come back to Nigeria. The book is about home, racism and about an african woman that moves to the US and becomes “black”. The hair reflects the urban spirit of NYC mixed with a pattern inspired by the african fabrics. I wanted to make the black and white a visual statement with a little hint of red in the “ah”.
