SUMMARY

When I was a boy, I wanted nothing more than to be a super hero. All day long, I dreamed of lifting mountains with my bare hands. Ok, so pretty quickly I realized I couldn’t lift mountains but I could lift the spirits of those around me. Those suffering from sadness, loneliness, loss, and depression. And just like that, storytelling became my ultimate super power and I set out to use it to spread light throughout the galaxy.

OBJECTIVE

To design visual branding that shouts optimism, strength, and the playfulness of my personality.

CHALLENGE

Starting from scratch.

I took a long open-minded look at my previous visual branding and strongly felt that it was very dark and didn't inspire others the way I wanted it to.

SOLUTION

I began by sitting down and writing out a list of things I truly enjoyed and that brought me happiness, particularly as a child. Some of these include: cartoons, synthwave, and nature. Countless hours on Pinterest, numerous photoshoots out in wild, and twenty or so mood boards later, I finally found what I was searching for.

BRAINSTORMING

My direction was clear: onward and upward. The design began as a simple arrow graphic with inspiration taken from icons on cardboard boxes. I liked the simplicity of that. However, after a handful of variants were created, the design lacked a sense of playfulness and artistry. I decided to smooth out all of the rigid angles of the graphic and transformed it into a paint stroke pointing in an upward direction. The result is a clean and simple emblem that represents both creativity and fortitude

CLEAR SPACE

To ensure that the logotype is displayed at maximum strength and legibility, always maintain a comfortable clear space zone.

As a general rule, the minimum clear space should be equal to the diameter of the circle forming the origin of the logotype.

In addition to accurate sizing and spacing, there are some rules to follow while using the logotype. Refer to the following examples (A-G) as a guide.
To achieve a symbol that represents enduring optimism and fortitude, I looked no further
than water and fire. Both possess an unwavering beauty and a force of infinite might.

Each color has a voice all its own. Combinations range from soft to incendiary

Use these colors in their specified mixes (CMYK, RGB, Pantone) as shown below.
COLOR USAGE

The logotype will primarily be represented in black and white but can also be used in the combinations below.
