Based on the paper architecture works of Yee I designed a 3d blueprint of the three level (+ basement) building known as H.H.Holmes' "Murder Castle". Holmes lured many to their death with a disorientating hotel he designed with the intent to kill.
This navigation system is a representation of the building found in blueprints and police records though some artistic license was taken to fill in gaps of information in sources.
Colour coding helps the viewer identify purposes of rooms; white for safe rooms, yellow for gas chambers, purple for secret rooms and black symbolising death for the basement.
Symbols are displayed on acetate floors to further indicate these purposes and other features; trap doors, oiled body chutes, dissection rooms, gas chambers, dead end staircases, acids baths/lime pits, commercial stores and normal hotel features.
The Murder Castle project is obsolete as the building no longer exists but serves to answer the brief of creating an effective navigation system by outing all of the Holmes' deadly features and confusing architecture to the viewer.
