Lonely When I'm Not Alone

These two illustrations were created as a focus on moods, featuring three girls who grew up together where one of them is ridden with feelings of loneliness even amongst her friends.

The first drawing of the girls as younger children is inspired by my memories of riding the metro in Hong Kong with my friends. The movement of the train and the possibility of using the steadying rails for gymnastics had always excited my friends and me, resulting in the inevitable glares of bitter onlookers.

The second drawing is based upon my experience at karaoke with my friends, being in a dark room lit with dizzying colors and the smell of poor decisions. I have always been fascinated by the way my friends could belt out lyrics on pitch, something that I had realized quickly that I could never do.
