A Doll’s House(s)

The childhood home is a concrete structure with definite boundaries anchored in physical reality, but also an amorphous space of endless revisiting by the adult self in an attempt to reconcile our understanding of self. This collection of sculptural comics explores place through juxtaposing various levels of understanding. Each doll’s house or diorama set approaches memories of my childhood home through the memories of a parental figure: my mother, my father, and my grandparents.

As my narratives are built by accreating levels of meaning through iterations of memory, this collection of photographs adds another layer through my choice of grouping and framing, both in the room itself and in the representations you see before you.
