Kenneth Pugh BTG's profile

Pennovation Center Incubates Innovative New Businesses

Residing in Chester County, PA, Kenneth Pugh’s experience includes a key position at the healthcare technology firm BTG International. While he is no longer involved with BTG, Kenneth (Ken) Pugh supports the Pennovation Center at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

The center is part of Pennovation Works, which is next to the university and combines laboratories, offices, and production facilities to promote intellectual and entrepreneurial advances. More than 30 organizations call the Pennovation Center home, ranging from established companies such as Hershey and Qualcomm to new firms such as ZSX Medical and Ghost Robotics.

The 58,000-square-foot building opened in 2016. It incorporates work and social spaces for solo startups, individual professionals, and partnerships. The center facility meets green building standards and connects to trails along the Schuylkill River.

The Pennovation Center sponsors events for the tenants, such as the JPOD@Philadelphia Quick Fire Challenge, in which healthcare innovators compete for a grant and office space. In addition, the Pennovation Accelerator offers mentorships for early-stage companies in a six-week summer event. Finally, the center is a meeting site for Startup Grind, an international network of business-builders.
