Dribbble - Redesign Concept

Is Dribbble visual porn?

Dribbble is a platform where designers showcase their work. The difference with Behance which is also a place to showcase design work is the format. While Behance content is made of projects - like this one - Dribbble content is limited to single images called shots.

I read new comments about Dribbble every week.  People complain about the current use of the platform in comparison to its glorious past, when all - luckily invited - designers were friends. Harsh comments flourish under the most popular shots, usually around their lack of usability.  According to the most virulent everybody is a copycat desperately looking for likes. Eventually I read that Dribbble was just porn for designers, hence the title.

Let me answer the question straight away - in my opinion - Dribbble is not porn for designers. For me Dribbble is 3 main things: A place to find inspiration, a platform to collect feedback and finally a marketing tool to generate new leads.

I’ve been using the platform for several years and with no hugely successful shots it helped me to generate leads that became almost 1.5 million of dollars in revenue over the last 7 years. So it is needless to say that I love Dribbble. Nevertheless because I dedicate a part of my time redesigning things for fun I thought it would be a good idea to think about solutions to make Dribbble better around the 3 use cases I described above.

Oh and because it’s a redesign and I love working with no technical restrictions I refreshed the interface to make something more inline with my minimal approach of design.

Better than thousand words…
