Step 1 in making the business card for CHisel (which basically deals with wooden decoration pieces) was to choose a background which best suits the identity of the Company.So, I chose a beautiful and simple dark brown wooden texture from google.
Then I searched for some simple and decent looking logos and i decided to use this lighter wooden texture to give my business card an elegant touch.
The next point was to use a unique symbol and i really liked this encircled C.I tried it with different textures and used a lighter wooden texture by making use of clipping mask.
I used Adobe Illustrator CC to make Business card.i chose 2 art boards of standard size 3.5''*2''.I chose the bleed to be 0.25'' and the safe line to be 0.25'' inside the trim line i.e. 3.25''*1.75''.Then i drew a rectangle of the size 3.5''*2'' and placed the dark wooden texture over it and then making use of clipping mask in AI, I clipped the texture to fit the rectangle.Further, i drew another rectangle to divide the art board into halves and clipped the right half with the lighter wooden texture.The as a standard business card has the contact details of the company,i made use of the filled icons i.e. location, phone number etc.
I placed the name and designation in the left half keeping the distance equal from all sides and placed the icons and contact info. in the right half keeping the distance equal from all sides.
On the other art board, I clipped the darker wooden texture and placed the encircled C in the middle of the art board and the company name and tagline below it.
In addition, I used this mock up for my business card.
