Concept:

A very recent study in October, 2018 from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shows that we should limit the warming to 1.5°C instead of 2°C—the upper limit in the Paris Agreement. If the temperature overshoots the 1.5°C threshold, human will face extreme problems of severe weather events, damage of ecosystems, loss of biodiversity, unstable food security, shortage of drinking water supplies, etc. These are the most important years in history and human should take action before global warming soon reach the point of no return. Thus, it’s time to do something for our Earth.

As the Arctic is warming faster than any other region on Earth and the polar animals serve as a poster child of global warming, we combine the image of melting sea ice and polar animals and use their image to develop a new product to call people’s attention to the issue. The illustration inspired from the picture of human evolution which ironically shows polar animals could be sliding towards extinction, instead of evolution in the 21st century on current trends. Using the feature of chocolate “melting” to present the idea of “extinction”, we aim at increasing a sense of urgency of global warming. In the usage of color, we took the representational color of the animals and slightly adjusted the color to be more colorful. The cut inner layers display the mountain ridge in polar regions, serving as the background of the animal chocolate, making chocolate packaging to be more playful.

「＋1.5°C」為一款以全球暖化議題為主的食物設計。2018年八月，各國政府的氣候變遷小組發表的一份報告顯示，我們應將暖化溫度增幅限制在1.5°C，而非巴黎協定的2°C；假設溫度超過1.5°C的門檻，人類將面臨非常嚴峻的問題，包含嚴重的氣候問題、生態系統的破壞、生物多樣性流失、不穩定的食物來源、缺乏飲用水等。這幾年是人類史上最重要的時期，應在暖化問題到達沒有退路的地步前，立即採取行動。因此，該開始為我們的地球做些什麼了。

北極比地球上的任何一個地方都要劇烈暖化，且極地動物通常被用來代表地球暖化的形象，因此結合了極地動物的意象和融化中的海冰來發展一系列產品，吸引人們關注這個議題。插畫的靈感是來自於人類進化的圖表，用來諷刺若依照目前的情況下去，極地動物非繼續進化，而是可能在本世紀內會慢慢消逝，最終走向滅絕。這樣的目的在於增強人們對於全球暖化的危機感。在色彩運用方面，採用具代表性的顏色，稍微調整成更鮮艷的色彩。特殊裁切過的內層，表現出極地的山稜線，形成了襯托動物巧克力的背景，使巧克力包裝更加有趣。
