Kugel: The Bullet Browser

For this project, students were to take one object and complete 3 different drawing exercises.

1. To create 36 different thumbnail compositions with the object.

2. To take one of the thumbnails and create new compositions and interpretations according to the following categories:
     a) Pattern and movement
     b) Typography and scale
     c) Collage and geometry
     d) Illusion of space and layers
     e) Texture and anomaly
     f) Rules and randomness
     g) Point, line, shape
     h) Transparency, grid, modularity

3. Take two concepts from previous exercise and create 4 different mashups. Then choose an existing or create your own company where you can apply these designs.

These four designs are the final compositions that were handed in for grading. The company I've created was of a web development company called "Kugel" (German for "bullet"), with its own web browser. The shape of the bullet came from a small keychain I had of the character Bullet Bill from Nintendo's Super Mario series. These four compositions combined the following concepts:

     i) "Pattern and movement" + "Texture and anomaly"
ii) "Typography and scale" + "Rules and randomness"
iii) "Collage and geometry" + "Point, line, shape"
iv) "Illusion of space and layers" + "Transparency, grid, modularity"
