Tom R. Chambers turned his attention towards editing/enhancement of the Lunar rocks images to add this component to his Apollo poster series, and to give teachers additional "ammunition" to motivate their students re: the Sciences and Space exploration. To see a rock from another celestial body (Moon) like this ... up close and personal (enlarged), as if you could touch it ... is an exciting encounter, wonderment.

If anyone wonders what the cube is for ... it is a scale cube used in geologic pictures taken in a photo studio, and as a reference in photographs where the size of an object would not otherwise be known. It is often used where the faces can be aligned to match compass bearings. The different faces (T-top, B-bottom, N-North, S-South, E-East, W-West) can also be used as an indication as to which side of the object the viewer is seeing.
