AIGA Student Group Poster

I'm the Secretary of Stonehill's AIGA student group and I was tasked with designing our advertisement. The problem was to present AIGA as an exciting design organization and to increase our participation numbers. In order to do this, I wanted to use very bright and exciting colors. I knew that students would be walking around campus, on their phones, day dreaming, doing just about anything but paying attention to what's on the walls. So I knew that this poster needed to be eye-catching. That's why I used powder brushes and bright colors in order to pull viewers in. I also needed to change people's perception of AIGA events as simply being listening to a designer come in and talk to us. To do this, I added the photo of a man jumping, taken by William Rouse and posted on Unsplash.com, because it showed movement. This person is jumping through smoke and powder with letters that read "design" surrounding him. Once the viewer's attention is captured, then they're pulled in to read the rest of the information. I also used the official typeface of AIGA, GT Haptik, in order to connect this poster to the AIGA brand.
