APPARENZE_Ft. Aberto Michelon
While I have always been a believer in Darwinian theory, my encounter with INANIMUS (Alberto Michelon) and his work truly has surprised me.
His primordial bestiary has drawn new horizons in front of my eyes. It is an Eden before humans, before Adam and Eve. An Eden populated by animals that have not sinned, as INANIMUS does not limit himself to reproduce what was or what we know. He goes beyond that and transfigures it.
The observer does not see a naturalistic or iconographic scene of an animal, which is what we often encounter in museums, but rather an analysis, a much larger and more complex idea. Firstly, he obliges us to decode what we are observing and then try to go beyond what appears to be only a provocation. Then, he offers us many things to reflect on, starting with the relationship we now have with the animal world. I have begun to explore the world of INANIMUS, which appears to be very stimulating. Sono sempre stato un Darwiniano convinto ma l'incontro con INANIMUS (Alberto Michelon) e il suo lavoro mi ha decisamente sorpreso.
Un bestiario primordiale disegna nuovi orizzonti davanti a me.
L'Eden prima dell'uomo, prima di Adamo ed Eva… Un Eden popolato da animali che non conoscono il peccato.
INANIMUS non si limita a riprodurre ciò che conosciamo o ciò che è stato.
Va oltre, trasfigura.
Lo spettatore non incontra una messa in scena naturalistica o iconografica dell'animale stesso, come spesso ci accade di apprezzare nei musei, ma una sintesi, una suggestione molto più ampia e complessa.
Ci obbliga prima a decodificare ciò che stiamo osservando e se riusciamo ad andare oltre a quella che in un primo momento sembra solo una provocazione, ci impone molteplici riflessioni a cominciare da quale rapporto oggi abbiamo con il mondo animale.
Inizio una esplorazione nel mondo di INANIMUS che si preannuncia molto stimolante.

Alberto Michelon (Padova, 1973) rat became interested in taxidermy during his university studies where he majored in Natural Sciences. He won the History of Biology Award with his thesis presentation from The National Academy of Science and decided to make taxidermy his full time profession. After having worked in a bottega in central Italy for 2 years, Michelon decided to leave his mentor's studio to seek new opportunities abroad where he then worked in various museums of natural history in Spain, Portugal and the united States. He came back eventually to Italy where he founded his own Animal Factory Studio. Quite an ambitious and unique project that allows Michelon to give a new prospective to an old craft that ha been all but abandoned, and redirect it into the art world.
Alberto Michelon (Padova, 1973) si interessa alla tassidermia durante gli studi di scienze naturali. Vinto il premio tesi di laurea in storia della biologia bandito dall'Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze dette dei XL, decide di fare della tassidermia la sua professione. Dopo aver trascorso due anni in una bottega del centro Italia, Michelon lascia il suo maestro per intraprendere nuove avventure all'estero: lavora nei musei di storia naturale in Spagna, Portogallo e negli Stati Uniti. Rientrato in Italia fonda Animal Factor Studio, un progetto ambizioso con il quale Michelon da una nuova prospettiva artigianale ad una pratica ormai abbandonata proiettandola nel mondo dell'arte.
