A few months ago I decided that I have had enough of having to rinse Bindi's collar every week or so. Even when I did rinse it under hot water with soap, there was still an unpleasant odour about it! I searched all over the internet for hours, trying to find the most ideal waterproof collar. Being a typical Boxer, I can't keep Bindi away from water and mud. I needed something that would wipe clean and not stink after a few dips in salty water. To be honest, I had all but given up when a friend of mine recommended the Waterproof Collar by Dogaloo (thanks Carol!).

The dog collar that we tried is Green one in large size. There are two different colours to choose from (blue and green). My initial impression of the collar was how well assembled it looked. It looks as if it will last for many years and I love the chunky, glossy material. The collar is crafted from a very special formula of polymers that will not absorb water, retain filth, or harbor odor-creating bacteria. It seems like the kind of material that you find on sports watch bands like the iWatch. Looks-wise, the collar can not be faulted but how would it perform in the greatest test of them all.. Bindi's test?

The test was pretty simple, to keep the collar on Bindi for two weeks and only take it off at bed time. Now with any regular collar, after a couple of weeks, the smell would be so unpleasant the neighborhood would grumble! Okay, a slight exaggeration perhaps but I'm sure you see my point.

Every day we went for a dip and a run on the beach and on one occasion Bindi indulged in an obligatory mud swim (she has to do that at least once a week!) Bindi has taken the collar into some of the filthiest putrid water I have ever seen. The combination of warm weather, a hot canine and dirty water is generally a recipe for a very smelly collar. But not with the Dogaloo dog collar. It still smells and looks like new! The Dogaloo Collar passed the Bindi's test with ease!

I am very, very impressed with the collar. They are excellent for Boxer, Labs, Retrievers and any other water loving pup. In fact, I think they are great for any canine regardless of whether they like getting wet and sloppy or not. They look amazing. A real top quality collar!
