REMIX Project is based in Chelas (Lisbon, Portugal), a problematic location with high levels of unemployment and violence. The project's main goal is to re-utilize industrial waste and transform it into something new, culminating in a catalog of design inspired objects.

Moreover, its team of artisans is a mix of designers and people from Chelas, giving the latter a chance to thrive in a project of their own, stressing social insertion and a new beginning. As such, the second edition of REMIX contacted our University and challenged us to create something that could be produced by those artisans and respected these parameters:

- Usage of 90% Industrial Waste that was easy to gather;
- Being easy to produce due to lack of qualifications;
- Low-Cost spirited.

Our submission to this academic competition was
TIPI, tenda dos aromas (tent of aromas), which guaranteed us the first place and an opportunity to experience the dynamic of the workshop. And, to this moment, TIPI, has had various mentions in national television and magazines like VOGUE, Portugal.

TIPI, tenda dos aromas, uses leather-waste from samples, leveraging standard sample sizes to produce it, and incorporates a package of the right amount of soil and seeds for fresh spices that grow with the products' light conditions, designed for smalls spaces.
Its production process takes less than 5 minutes following only three steps; and just requiring a pinking sicssor, a sewing machine and a flank for hanging.

Furthermore, the packaging solution is meant to reduce the amount of waste produced, as the plastic that carries the soil is recyclable. This packaging is vulcanised twice--which can be found in any grocery shop--, in order to separate the seeds and label from the soil.

Keeping everything in a low cost spirit, we provided the workshop a small instructions' card that can be used both as a guideline for cutting leather strips and for producing photocopies for the labels on the packaging that contains the presented informations.
The branding offers a more cozy solution rather than a full geometric one, by using circles in order to shape the triangle corners. The opening in the center indicates both the shape of the product and its usage, since it resembles a sprout.

The rest of the communication follows this lead, taking advantage of pictograms in order to put the point across, relying on common sense rather than text explanations, pointing to low-cost productions and easy reading of how to use the product. Gudea Regular was chosen to follow any necessary written text such as the fresh spices' names of explanatory notes.
