As a carrier of language and Chinese culture, Chinese characters serve as a tool for children to learn and to read. Expect from that, maybe it can be better integrated into our life. Moreover, the phenomenon of foreign cultural invasion is very serious now, and I hope through my design, I can make people re-appreciate the beauty of Chinese characters. This is my thesis project for my undergrad.
Research Insights: Product Analysis, Observation in bookstores
Parents have literacy needs for children before school, but they will not force children to know new words. I hope that through the signs, store and road signs in life to stimulate the arrival of children's sensitive period of literacy, let it be natural.
Pictures are very easy for children to accept, and children are willing to find Chinese characters in pictures. Children prefer to read pictures rather than read text. Some additional gadgets and sound feedbacks that are also good.
Children's products will be used for a short period of time, so how to extend the life span is a point to consider.
Children's products need to be a platform for children's creative performance, and they cannot be restricted.

The content of this book is very good, explaining in details of the words, but the threshold for reading this book is very high, that there are too much text in the book so the children will not have the patience to read. But understanding the stories behind Chinese characters from the very beginning is undoubtedly very helpful. Moreover, the traditional folk activities such as rubbings and paper-cutting mentioned in the book are also very suitable for children and their parents to do hand-made or paintings together.
