The Neighbourhood Kitchen is a community development and spatial intervention project designed to help raise Shek Tong Tsui residents’ awareness of community wellness by building relationships through food to encourage a better quality of life for people facing housing-led poverty.
The kitchen provides a safe gathering place for residents to cook, where they can engage with one another and develop mutual support, build social cohesion, while minimising the risk of fire and electricity shortages inside sub-divided flats.
Serve as a hub to draw resources from local communities: unsold goods from the Western Food Market can be collected, donations from supermarkets and nearby restaurants can be raised and saved for the Neighbourhood Kitchen
