Moulded Plywood Earphones

Molded Plywood Earphones
Through the use of multiple layers of molded plywood, this concept combines in-ear headphones with the warmth and natural qualities of beechwood.

The initial idea was to create a basic shape with a simple production process. First sketches of closed wooden volumes were abandoned for an approach that showcases the different layers of wood veneer in a aesthetic manner. The final concept uses two types of wood to visually seperate the outer from the three inner layers.

This concept uses smaller pieces of plywood that would otherwise be seen as waste. The production process of moulded plywood furniture objects results in many small scraps of plywood, which are deemed useless and then disposed of. This concept gives them a use and incorporates them into a new product in an aesthetic way.
