The Revive Chettinad Project

This project was worked on  a joint studio funded by UNESCO in collaboration with ArcHe-s.
The Revive Chettinad Development Project aimed at identifying endangered sites in Chettinad, that were unique for their architecture, urban planning, history and environment and to implement a  protection and restoration programme. The objective was to preserve structures of heritage value as well as to revive the site by introducing activities that are useful to the community and compatible with the conservation of the heritage.
Being the first phase of the project, data collection, identification, analysis and diagnosis of architectural and urban heritage was necessary. Based on the analysis, few houses were selected for complete documentation, restoration and adaptive re-use.
