Legibility Words


Legibility Words is a research about digital typography based on Steven Heller's article
The legibility wars of the ‘80s and ‘90s.
The publication consists in a overview of type design world starting from the 1984 to the 2000s recalling the debate on the legibility of postmodern fonts. The book is divided in
four chapters talking about the general context, the arrival of the computer, early softwares to make fonts, and the birth of digital foundries. The last chapter shows a selection of postmodern fonts divided in categories and proposed again on the dust jacket.
