Project: The owner of the Broadbandlink Gaming YouTube channel needed an custom avatar that referenced specific information to attract the attention of the gaming audience who would recognize the references.
Project Solution: The required elements included a likeness to the owner in armor that incorporates visual elements from the Legend of Zelda and Skyrim. The 3/4 profile image provided by the owner was used to create the Anime style likeness with tossled hair to reference The Legend of Zelda. The armor is a combination of different Skyrim designs: Deadric and Studded Leather Armor, Dragon Bone Sward, and Orcish Shield. The pops of dark green is a shade from the green tint from the Legend of Zelda.
Additional subtle elements that help complete the story of Broadbandlink is the Binary code in the decorative part of the sward blade. The "B" in the shield represent the first letter of the channel name.
The Avatar was created using Adobe Photoshop to draw the digital sketches and Adobe Illustrator to make the vectors. The core of the design remains in separate layers for future animation projects.
Project Iteration: The avatar on the left is the original version delivered to the client. The center image, provided by the client, is the reference image of the client. The avatar on the right is the latest version. The hair color was changed to better match the reference image. The client is currently using the original image on business artifacts.
Business Card: This is the avatar as it was used by the client for business cards.
