I had the opportunity to brand the shirt design for the Prairie Plains Resource Institute summer science camp SOAR (Summer Orientation About Rivers). This camp was life-changing as a child, so it was an honor to work on this project for the owners.
The goal was to create a design that encompassed all of the many activities and wildlife that go on during this camp, as well as a colorful and compelling design that children as well as adults would like to wear to remember the week.
Many of the illustrations like the kites, raccoon and the canoe were requested illustrations that matched specific activities that year, as well as native animals like the blue heron and the kingfisher. We created a version of the SOAR logo by spelling it out in the clouds (outlined by their request) and adding the bird which is in their actual logo.
I presented various color combinations fitting the illustration style and fun children's focus and we decided on the monochromatic blue tones. In order to add another color without adding to the cost of printing, I created the illusion of another color by using the t-shirt grey tone.
