Inter IIT Aquatics Meet 2018

The year IIT Guwahati celebrated its 25th anniversary, it decided to host the annual Inter IIT sports meet. A team was called from the Department of Design, IIT Guwahati, to design the tournament's identity under Dr D. Udayakumar and Prof. Sheetal M. Gokhale's guidance. My role was to come up with a visual language to help create collaterals for the sports meet.
'Waves', referencing the mighty Brahmaputra, and 'The Indigeneity of North East' were the core concepts behind the identity. The visual language treated these waves as individual strands of threads/ribbons inspired by traditional bamboo weaving. It explored the idea of them interacting with objects.
A vibrant duotone colour scheme was selected to bring out the dynamism and energy associated with sports. Also, the colours were chosen to contrast the lush greenery of the IIT Guwahati campus. The concepts were then used as countdown posters for the aquatics meet.
