Analysis of 2nd Year Digi Op Shoot

Overall, I think the shoot went well. There were no issues with capture or workflow and I arrived in good time, got myself set up and marked off with tape etc, and lent a hand to the first assistant and photographer in setting up lighting and backdrop etc.

I regularly fed back to the photographer on misfiring of flash or loss of focus on the subject. There was some dust which we ascertained was on the sensor of the camera and therefore was nothing that could be done about it physically and so I spot healed these out of the first few images and as the photographer kept their framing basically the same throughout the shoot this carried through and removed this issue from the preceding images. I also boosted the colour of the yellow background slightly and added a touch of contrast so that the model could get an idea of what the final image may look like.

Where things didn't go so well is in the creation of the final images through the layouts, particularly the front cover of the CD. The first assistant and I both mentioned to the photographer that it may be worth shooting slightly wider or having the model slightly off centre for some of the shots, unfortunately this didn't happen and so the shots for the front cover are quite limited meaning a fold down the centre of the subjects face on the front cover would be inevitable if this went to print.
I would do very little different next time, perhaps bring a couple of bits of extra kit as spares. For example my Mac was used as the photographer didn't have a charger for theirs and it had very little battery left. I would also be slightly more assertive with the photographer when it comes to making sure we capture images that will successfully fufil the brief set.
