LIGATURE SHOW:
TYPOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION
Type Club presents Ligature Show, an exhibition of typographic work. Open for submissions from all majors in categories such as Drop Cap, Type in Motion, Hand Lettering, and Editorial, the exhibition showcases the typographic excellence at Ringling College of Art + Design.
This year's theme revolves around the materials of Brutalism and the spirit of the Bauhaus, celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2019. The campaign references the color palette of the German art and design school, and uses the newly redrawn stencil typeface, Joschmi, designed by Joost Schmidt in 1932. Using the stencils, the promotional posters are individually stylized with spray paint, to not only create a unique look for each piece of work, but also replicate the rough texture seen in the concrete of Brutalist architecture.
This project is part of the Type Club at Ringling College of Art + Design.
