Poster design for a speech "Alfred Nobel and the Nobel

Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prize

Speaker: Lars Brink
I will first present Alfred Nobel and his life and his inventions and how he came to donate his vast fortune to set up the Nobel Prizes. I will also discuss the drama after his death and how the Nobel Foundation was set up. Finally  I will discuss how the Nobel Committee works, what the statutes are and will give examples how they are implemented.

CV: Prof. Lars Brink has been a professor of theoretical elementary particle physics since 1986 at Chalmers University of Technology in G?teborg, Sweden. He was a fellow in the Theory Group at CERN, 1971-73 and was an scientific associate at Caltech, 1976-77. He has been a visiting scientist for longer and shorter periods at CERN, Caltech, IAS in Princeton and ITP in Santa Barbara as well as many other institutions around the world at numerous occasions. He was vice dean of physics at Chalmers, 1987-93 and was the chairman of the board of Nordita in Copenhagen, 1990-93 and a member of the board in 1993-97. He is the chairman of the board of International Center for Fundamental Physics in Moscow since 1993. He was elected as member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences in 1997 and was member of its Nobel Committee for Physics from 2001. He was also the coordinator of the EU Network "Superstring Theory" 1991-95  and 2000- 2008. His scientific work has been mainly in elementary particle theory especially in the attempts to unify all fundamental interactions. He is one of the pioneers of the Superstring Theory and has also been much involved in supersymmetric quantum field theories. One highlight here is the construction and proof of the first finite quantum field theory in four spacetime dimensions, the N=4 Yang-Mills Theory. He was on the Nobel committee up to 2014, and served as the chairman in 2013.

I designed the poster with inspiration from "Superstring Theory."
And I connected the wavelengths of the vibrating string and the symmetrical particles in a circular way.

* KIAS
Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) was founded in 1996 by Korean Government to promote research excellence in the basic sciences. KIAS is located on a 120,000 square-meter site in Seoul, where its members are provided with a research-friendly environment. As a flagship of the basic sciences in the region, KIAS provides a venue for advanced learning and active discovery of new ideas. Through these efforts, the Institute ultimately aims to contribute to advancement of our civilization.

KIAS is an arena for dynamic scientific interactions. Scientists from all over the world visit KIAS for collaborative research, sabbatical leave, and undertake various research activities. In pursuit of fulfilling its mission, KIAS also hosts numerous meetings, seminars, workshops, and seasonal schools. The faculty and research bodies of the Institute are composed of diverse nationalities, and endeavor to explore the frontier of knowledge and insights on Nature and its structure. KIAS, aspiring to be a world-class hub of research activity, welcomes opportunities of interaction with research communities around the world.

Thank you.
