After learning basic After Effects animation at university I decided to work on a more frame-by-frame technique within Photoshop. I really like this first series and plan to continue animating in this style.
I developed this concept due the fact that I wanted to try working with fluid elements. The fact that the cigarette looks realistic yet is still in my style is one of favourite aspects of this final piece.
This animation includes my personal avatar and is a representation of the rollercoaster that is life. I've been working on a lot of mental health themed projects lately and I think this loop is a very relatable analogy.
When looping this animation for social media the app I used didn't completely work so this upload doesn't either. My favourite thing about this is the shadows, it was quite a spontaneous concept and I'd like to work on more squiggly movement soon to explore the shading style further.
Out of this series of animations this is probably the one and least pleased with. Although there is nothing specifically wrong with it I feel both the concept itself and the design could do with a bit refining.
This animation is based on a character design I did back in September. Initially he was a gambling goat who received the comment 'But he's just a kid!'. In connection my trip to Amsterdam in February I decided to build on this character and put him in a different situation. I did forget to colour his belt in one of the frames but other than that I think it turned out really well.
This is the Sheriff of Cattingham. I want to work on a character with a black eye and the concept developed from there.
This is probably the simplest of my animations so far. Being only the second I did I wanted to test out rotation and so drew this.
This was the first photoshop animation I did and it's probably still one of my favourites. It was the eyes on this that inspired me to explore those of the Sheriff of Cattingham.
