Bahria Foundation is a subsidiary of Pakistan Navy and is engaged in wide range of maritime related business activities. Bahria Foundation under Maritime Division also has its own Boat Building Yard (BBY) (above 5,000 sq mtr) established in 1999. It has a prefabricated shed for various kinds of boat construction related works, where GRP layup is specially done, as per international standards. BBY specializes in GRP boat design, construction, repair and maintenance. 
Bahria Boat Building Yard has adequate infrastructure and experienced staff trained from PN Dockyard, Shipyard and abroad, including Naval Architect for the subject work.

The subject yard has manufactured 38 in Nos. boats till to-date including 07 RHIBs of different designs and capacities for various organizations. Details of the same are enclosed. Presently 06 x RHIBs boats are under construction for PN at Bahria Boatbuilding Yard. Out of these 02 RHIBs have already been handed over to Pakistan Navy on 06 February 2017, after successful trials for operational duties. The remaining 04 RHIBs will be launched shortly for sea trials. Bahria Foundation has also initiated construction of 11.75m RHIB to meet the operational requirement of local and abroad clients i.e. surveillance at sea as well as inland patrolling.

Aforementioned RHIBs have been designed on Lloyds special service craft classification rules and DEFSTAN 02-109 Part II (Military Standards), ISO 12717, additionally the subject design include safety aspect through implementation of IMO High Speed craft Codes to undertake hot pursuit during combat operations at sea as well as at inland waters. These are state of the art boats, with all imported material/equipment. Lloyds Register International, being IACS classification society has approved design of RHIBs for class “100AI SSC Patrol RIB HSC LDC G2”.

Furthermore, Bahria Boatbuilding Yard possesses Mercantile Marine Department(MMD) registration since 1999. For mariners the subject registration suffices boats/crafts manufacturing related arrangement including tools, equipment and technical staff etc.
In addition to aforesaid, as regard policy w.r.t. indigenous manufacture, Govt. of Pakistan has given due consideration and priority for self-sufficiency over foreign firms. Bahria Boat Yard indigenous construction of RHIBs helps to provide local employment and to save huge amount of foreign exchange, freight charges as well as custom duties etc.
