SCHFH Portfolio

My final project as an AmeriCorps member at Sussex County Habitat for Humanity was to create a portfolio of my work.  This portfolio encapsulates a year's worth of design to promote simple, decent, and affordable housing solutions throughout the county.

Table of Contents

Various Visuals
*The advertisement is displayed in a weekly online magazine
*The Community Bank displays were 11x14 posters hung in an open beam structure

SCHFH moved offices during my tenure.  I created all the necessary signage, open house invitations, and biographies for all of our partner families (aka homeowners in progress).

Various Visuals
*The advertisement was displayed in a local newspaper
*The county mapping highlighted community services near two of our future build sites for a major grant
*The newsletter is disseminated on the 1st and 15th of every month through Constant Contact to 1500+ subscribers

SCHFH framed a twin townhome with Dogfish Head Brewery and Eats on Rehoboth Avenue.  What a fantastic day!

Collegiate Challenge is a Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) program for college students to attend an alternative spring break and A Brush with Kindness is HFHI's newest program: an exterior refurbishing project to be offered to homeowners in surrounding neighborhoods to our Habitat homes.

Volunteers = the lifeblood of SCHFH, so we rightfully recognized them.

For every Habitat house that is built, a dedication ceremony takes place at completion, but before the family moves in.

The Delmarva Shorebirds (farm team for the Baltimore Orioles) held a Habitat night and Jack Hogan, a local contractor, rode his bike across the country for SCHFH.  Two great causes coming together to support the local community.

I designed and led two Annual Appeals within my year of service.

Because Habitat is naturally looked at as a male-dominated organization, HFHI created Women Build.  SCHFH started their 3rd whole house Women Build project in June 2009.

SCHFH ReStore is a thrift store that takes used lumber, furniture, windows, doors, plumbing & lighting fixtures, etc., then sells it all to the local community.  All proceeds go directly to building simple, decent, and affordable houses in Sussex County.

As the Vice President of Delaware's InterCorps Council (student government of all 100+ AmeriCorps in Delaware), I was tasked with a lot of design projects.  We also planned an AmeriCorps Week with a service project everyday and a Life After AmeriCorps Conference.

Just a glimpse at the nearly 10,000 pictures I took for the organization and the 8 videos I made.
