PUBLIC SERVICE CAMPAIGN
Project 03 Public Service Campaign for Art 235 Graphic Design. This project was to create a three poster campaign for a public service issue. We started by researching existing PSA ads, then created a list of topics that interested us. Once we had narrowed down our ideas we work on thumbnail images. We progressed from drawing to digital thumbnails. After a few revisions we selected out final designs. Follow my process below.
BRAINSTORM, THUMBNAILS AND DIGITAL COLOR SKETCHES
For my topic I chose media usage and screen time. My campaign was targeted at high school students. Once I narrowed my topic I brainstormed using word lists to help create slogan ideas. This process was important to help give our initial thumbnail sketches purpose.
ORIGINAL IDEAS
After completing some research I found an alarming statistic regarding the average media usage for 8-18 year olds. The average amount of screen time per day is 7 hours and 38 minutes. I was alarmed by this statistic and thought it would make a compelling image.
SECOND DRAFTS & REEVALUATION
After struggling with the message that was being sent in my idea that "38 minutes" was appropriate amount of screen time I went back to some of my original ideas and tried to work on some other ideas.
ALMOST THERE
The idea was progressing but I still didn't have the final ideas so I continued to explore and research. I was able to come up with a better version of the poster but also explored a different idea all together.
THE FINAL POSTERS & COMPLETED CAMPAIGN
The final posters are still target to high school age kids and their parents.
