CHANIQUE GREEN PORTFOLIO
Shirt and Trouser Project- London College of Fashion October 2019- Dec 2019
Using the concept from introduction to womenswear (origami infused with the whole idea of high street vs evening wear), I then developed it on by choosing an art movement of which was 'Biomorphism'. Pacifically focusing on sculpture. From this I then researched further merging all ideas together. This went on to 2d and 3d design. Including modelling on the stand, drawing from the stand and collage. By December we needed To have a final initial shirt and trouser line up and 6 fully resolved shirt samples chosen out of the final line up. These had to be out of white woven fabric.
Modelling on stand
Collages produced using illustration pens, found images of existing garments and images relating to concept
Personal Confirmatory Study MARCH 2019-JUNE 2019
After experimenting within all areas of art and design, i still had my heart set on fashion design.Looking back at pathway stage, I could see massive development in my design and making work.  I aspired to use a concept that is edgy and doesn't necessarily sit comfortably in the womenswear industry. I wanted to look at the theme of men's jobs and clothing, particularly focusing on labourers from the 18th century to modern day. I aimed to give a feminist outlook, and address gender stereotyping through the garments i design. With only 11% of construction workers being women, due to a number of factors including sexism in the workplace and historical ideals of the ‘housewife’.  I looked at the shaping and small details within protective historic wear, and bring in the modern bright, reflective neon colours, overall creating a sexy, fun and feminine look. I then exhibited this at a large space alongside the other students work.

Pathway Stage (JAN 2019-MARCH 2019)
Inside out
Taking up the theme of interiors, i focused on the specific era of renaissance. I took the shaping of the furniture and small details for detailing and also added small extracts of renaissance art as a print on the garments. This project was a completely different style from what i have done before, and again i wanted to investigate menswear, specifically tailored. The aim was to show off my construction skills and to show that i can work in all styles. From this i can see huge development in all  my making and design skills.
Visual Research and drawings.
Some initial designs
Deconstruction and re-construction, sampling and development
Final garment and illustration.
Multiples Project
Choosing a found object, i chose 'hair', pacifically human and synthetic. The aim of this project was to exhaust the material used, therefore experimentation was key. Starting with visual research, then going on to drawing the object with different medias, with it in different states. Following onto designs, i decided i wanted to use knit and the heat press mixing plastic bags with hair. I have never done knit before but doing this project has made me really enjoy it.
Visual research, drawings and designs.
Final Piece
Miniature Project
With the starting point of Inside of electrical equipment and small parts of computers such as keys from a key board. I really love the dark greens and blacks mixed with the hints of metallic. I became really intrigued by the mechanics of phones and computers so i really got into the project. From this project i feel my construction skills improved massively and helped me focus on the small details. Learning the basics of pattern cutting during this project also helped me massive in my more recent projects.
Visual Research and Drawings

Exploratory Stage (SEPTEMBER 2018-NOVEMBER 2018)
Abstract Project
My last project within the theme of self love influenced by the Ru Paul quote; 'If you can't love yourself how the hell are you going to love anyone else'. I particularly loved the color palette and experimenting within it.
Left- Experimentation with photography and creating abstract pieces within a workshop. Right-CAD produced using my own print i made into a mandala print using Photoshop. This originally came from a Room sized abstract piece workshop we did during the time of the project, of which i developed using needle felting, brusho and reverse applique.
Sculpture Project
My second project on the course with the starting point of the burning man festival and sculpture. I chose to take up the theme of 'Rites of passage' from this. I really wanted it to be raw. Looking into all aspects of my theme including marriage, birth, and puberty. I had the idea of fusing these together. Starting with visual research, drawings and experimentation with different medias. Due to it being a 3 week project, it is more about experimenting and coming out of the comfort zone which is something i thoroughly enjoyed.

White Project
My final project, known as the white project was one i thoroughly enjoyed however i can see vast improvement throughout the few months of foundation. I followed up the theme of Qing Dynasty researching into the fashion of the time and other artists. I was particularly influenced by the architecture and the immense detail of the garments of which higher society wore.  I loved working with no color as it made my thoughts sprawl further and i would love to do a project like this again.
Initial designs, final collection and final garment.
