This project titled 'N-Orbit' was my final submission for university in 2019, this was my first attempt at creating a story driven 3D animation. Creating illustrative characters is something I have always enjoyed but its the remarkable ability these created characters can have by encapsulating human emotion and initiating a bond between viewer and content. So it was my idea i could pull this off for my final end of year project.
'N-Orbit' originated the idea of loneliness, belonging and finding surprises, something we as human beings can all related to. Created in the software Blender i directed and animated the film whilst my good friend Freddy Mercer scored the music.
I wanted the film to encapsulate this motive of initiating this idea of having empathy towards the characters and wanting the audience to care for them. I kept the film silent with only music as an accompaniment as i felt it helped it helped the with the focus of the story and minimised distractions sound effects can sometimes have.
I was constrained to a 5 month deadline and pushed the limitations of what my laptop could muster as it sounded like a jet engine whilst rendering scenes. This film embodies what i hold dear to me and makes me happy and keeps me
motivated to do more.
