Oh My God, I Love Him so Much, I'm Crying

Oh My God, I Love Him so Much, I’m Crying
is an installation piece that emulates the experience of being a young woman who is obsessed with men that have celebrity status. The installation piece includes sound elements, the use of a personal environment, and shrine-like webs of photographs of celebrity boys that may have lined the walls of a young teenage girl’s bedroom. With the intention of creating a less intimate, personal environment the viewer is allowed to move through the space—even if they can’t personally relate to the experience of obsessing over celebrity men.
The audience is encouraged to move through the piece, as if it’s a structure to navigate
through to arrive at a final realization. By allowing the audience to be a piece of the
performance, this makes the experience of Oh My God, I Love Him so Much, I’m Crying
a more memorable and engaging experience. The ability to interact invites the viewer into the piece and allows them to have an experience for themselves. The inclusion of performance and installation is a new addition to this work, which
began as more of an experiment for the artist. Slowly, this experiment turned into a study of how obsession became a source of empowerment and inspiration in the art-making process. Teenage girls are always overlooked as young, obsessed, crazy people with unreasonable expectations of the world.
