SOURCERY - animation
This is an animated trailer for a graphic novel concept. The story for this graphic novel has been taken from a book called: "Sourcery", written by Terry Pratchett. I designed all characters and environments including concept design, 2d animation, cut, rendering and sound design.
This animation is hand drawn and made frame by frame in TVPaint Studio and After Effects.
The fluent movement of the character has been made in the tradional established combination of 'straight ahead' and 'pose to pose' animation. Whereas the smoke in fore- and background has been created solely by 'straight ahead' animation and then being looped into a cycling animation. 12 different Smokes have been animated for this short trailer. Parallax effects, zoom and camera rotation has been made in After Effects.
The trailer is made of 8 animated sequences which have been edited into video footage of 2 double pages printed graphic novel including front- and backcover. The single animated clips have been combined with filmed footage of the graphic novel. Cut and rendering has been done in After Effects.
