The Center for Afrofuturist Studies (CAS) is an artist residency program for artists of color in Iowa City, Iowa. I had the chance to work on their branding, apply it to a magazine insert, and illustrate images to be put on merchandise.

When the branding was settled, I was given text and images to put together an insert in Little Village magazine, an alt-weekly published in Iowa City. Given the constraints of newsprint printing, I worked to design an insert that would print well while still maintaining a clean look.

I was given a directive to create stylized portraits of the 2016 artists in residence. Working from photos, I drew the outlines to be vectorized, adding more stylization within Illustrator. From there, I designed stickers and t-shirts to be printed according to the screen printer's specs.
