We are given a challenge on promoting SDG awareness to Sunway Malls visitors
through an interactive installation.
In the end we decided to promote the SDG no.12, focusing on the responsible consumption of electricity to prevent energy waste.
By having to many lights switching on, it will somehow cause light pollution,
which also brings out these problems:
We decided to build out a huge dome. Inside the dome there are houses with lights on, and some buttons for the users to press.
Every time a button is pressed, a part of the lights will switch off,
and stars slowly appearing above the dome.
We wish to promote the awareness of switching off unused lights
to prevent energy waste, by using something more visualise(stars showing up represents the reduce of light pollution).
Design of the Dome
Our target audiences are mall visitors & the installation must be user-friendly
for people of group age 7 and above. In order to promote the awareness to
younger kids, we set the experience simple. By just pressing the button to switch off lights, light pollution will reduce and we will be able to see stars.
