This is the new section header I made for the Hillside-Quadra Community News of which I do the layout. It's called Arts and the Hood and the idea for the it is to approach the arts and neighbourhood connectivity holistically. I wanted to capture that with a distressed looking type face and the look of weathered wood. Something artistic yet simple.
This is the basic text I used for the header.
This is an image took while walking around the city. I cropped a section of it and used it for the background to give the header an urban feel.
Here the text and background are combined. I wanted to make it pop a little more so I added some colour.
This is what it looks like in black and white. Although we would mainly use this section header in colour, there might be times when it will have to be in black and white as not all pages are printed in colour.
